Depois de Solar Power e Stoned at the Nail Salon e poucos dias antes do lançamento do próximo álbum, Lorde lança mais um single e o videoclipe!

Mood Ring é o nome do 3º single de Solar Power. 

Esta música é escrita da perspetiva de uma personagem inventada, uma pessoa que procura espiritualismo como resposta a sentir-se desconectada e perdida no mundo moderno. 

Esta música é quase sarcástica, mas ao mesmo tempo divertida. Os tempos em que vivemos podem ser confusos. As pessoas fazem o que podem para se sentirem sãs. E isso é o que esta personagem está a fazer, mesmo que esse método possa ser questionável por outras pessoas. 

Um Mood Ring (Anel de humor) representa essencialmente isso, um pensamento mágico que esta personagem usa porque precisa de acreditar em algo que a faça sentir bem. Toda a gente tem algum objeto ou alguma atividade que representa exatamente a mesma coisa. Alguma coisa que vista de fora possa parecer sem sentido. 

[ Eu sei que se não compraste um destes anéis em alguma altura da tua vida, pelo menos já experimentaste um :) ]

Há várias referências a outros métodos espirituais, como meditação, saudações ao Sol, queimar sálvia, purificar cristais.

A construção de outra personagem, que no videoclipe é loura, e faz a ponte com as raízes dela mesmo que na realidade são morenas e o humor 

"Plants and celebrity news, all the vitamins I consume"

A parte engraçada, o facto desta pessoa consumir notícias sobre celebridades e plantas como se fossem vitaminas :')

E no refrão repete "I can't feel a thing, I keep looking at my mood ring" (Eu não consigo sentir nada, continuo a olhar para o meu anel).

Adoro quando artistas escrevem músicas em que criam personagens, e estou ansiosa por ouvir e escrever sobre o resto do álbum de Lorde! [Já viram os nomes das músicas??]

After Solar Power and Stoned at the Nail Salon and a few days before the next album comes out, Lorde released one more single and the music video!

Mood Ring is the name of Sola Power's 3rd single.

This song is written from the perspective of a made-up character, a person who seeks spiritualism as a response to feeling disconnected and lost in the modern world.

This song is almost sarcastic but at the same time fun. The times we live in can be confusing. People do what they can to find sanity. And that is what this character is doing, even if their method may be questionable for other people. 

A Mood Ring represents essentially that, a magical thought that this character uses because she needs to believe in something that makes her feel good. Everyone has some object or activity that represents exactly the same thing for them. Something that may seem meaningless from the outside. 

[ I know if you did not buy one of these rings sometime in your life, at least you have tried one :) ]

There are several references to other spiritual methods, like meditation, Sun salutations, burn sage, cleanse crystals.

The building of the other character, who is blond in the music video, and connects it to her own natural brown roots and the mood

"Plants and celebrity news, all the vitamins I consume"

The funny part, the fact that this person is consuming news about celebrities and plants like they are vitamins :')

And in the chorus, she repeats "I can't feel a thing, I keep looking at my mood ring".

I love when artists write songs in which they create characters, and I am looking forward to listening and write about the rest of Lorde's album! [Have you seen the names of the songs??]
