WHERE THE CRAWDADS SING MOVIE | A RAPARIGA SELVAGEM FILME

Quero, em primeiro lugar, dizer que finalmente este filme saíu em Portugal, e que é por isso que só agora é que estou a escrever sobre ele. Já tinha escrito sobre a história, e feito a review do livro, um dos meus livros favoritos de 2022, 5 estrelas (aqui). Tenho de admitir que estava um pouco apreensiva para ver o filme. Não queria ficar desiludida, nem passar a pensar nas personagens ou cenários de outra forma. Mas como é que podia perder ver este filme no grande ecrã? Tinha de ser. 

E fui. E foi das melhores adaptações de livro para filme que já vi. 

A história, que já é super densa no livro, conseguiu ser tratada totalmente no filme. Claro que os acontecimentos foram mais rápidos, que houve detalhes que não tiveram espaço no filme, mas tudo o que eu senti a ler Where the Crawdads Sing estava representado ali: toda a dor da infância de Kya, as relações, o mistério, o suspanse até ao fim. 

Claro que as personagens não foram tão desenvolvidas como no livro, mas não achei que tivesse ficado a faltar alguma coisa para conseguir sentir algo por elas (se bem que, no filme, os atores de Tate e de Chase são algo parecidos, o que me fez confusão no início porque ao ler os tinha imaginado super diferentes um do outro).

Honestamente, a única coisa que notei uma grande diferença para o livro foi o facto de a poesia não estar presente. Essa parte foi apagada da personagem, se bem que as narrações de Kya eram muito semelhantes ao que está escrito no livro, poeticamente e lindamente escritas. 

Algo que superou aquilo que eu tinha do livro foram os cenários, os desenhos de Kya, as paisagens, toda a cinematografia era linda, algo muito mais bonito do que tinha imaginado ao ler o livro, com muito mais atenção ao detalhe.

Recomendo imenso, eu adorei o filme, e não diria que o filme me fez gostar mais do livro mas sim que ter lido o livro antes de ver o filme foi uma mais valia, porque conseguia sentir mais o que as personagens viveram e perceber o que era representado de uma forma mais rápida neste meio.

Firstly, I want to say that finally this movie was released in Portugal a week ago, which is why I'm late writing about it. I had already written about the story and done the book's review, one of my favourite 2022 books, 5 stars (here). I admit that I was a little nervous about watching this movie. I didn't want to get disappointed or begin to think about the characters or scenarios in a different way. But how could I miss watching this movie on the big screen? I had to.

So I went. And it was one of the best book adaptations that I have ever seen.

The story, which is already super dense in the book, was managed to be totally presented in the movie. Of course that the events moved quicker, that there were details that didn't have space to be in the movie, but everything that I had felt while reading Where the Crawdads Sing was portrayed there: all of Kya's childhood pain, the relationships, the mystery, the suspense until the end. 

Of course that the characters were also not as developed as in the book, but I didn't think that the movie was missing something for us to be able to feel for them (although, in the movie, the actors who play Tate and Chase are kinda alike, which got me a little confused in the beginning because I had imagined them super different from each other while reading).

Honestly, the only thing I noticed as a big difference from the book was the fact that there was no poetry. That part was deleted from the character, although Kya's narrations were very similar to what was written in the book, poetic and beautifully written. 

One thing that topped what I had from the book was the scenarios, Kya's drawings, and the landscapes. All cinematography was beautiful, much more beautiful than what I had imagined while reading the book, with much more attention to detail.

I highly recommend, I loved the movie, and I wouldn't say that the movie made me like the book more but that having read the book before watching the movie was a plus, because I was able to feel more about what the characters went through and understand what was presented in a quicker way in this type of media.
