RABO DE PEIXE | TURN OF THE TIDE

Estreou na Netflix mais uma série portuguesa. Chama-se Rabo de Peixe, foi escrita por João Tordo, Hugo Gonçalves e pelo realizador Augusto Fraga.

A história passa-se exatamente em Rabo de Peixe, nos Açores, e segue um grupo de amigos que, perante o naufrágio de um barco de traficantes de cocaína italianos, recolhe uma grande quantidade dessa droga que deu à costa e começam a vendê-la e a estabelecer um "negócio". Desta forma, acompanhamos três grupos: a PJ e a investigação para encontrar os responsáveis pela droga e a droga, o grupo de amigos que vê inicialmente a droga como a mais extraordinária oportunidade para mudar o rumo das suas vidas, e os donos originais, os italianos. Acompanhamos, também, a reação de toda a ilha à chegada deste produto. 

É importante dizer também que a série foi inspirada em eventos reais. 

Eu gostei muito da série, acho que está com uma enorme qualidade. Gostei de como os três caminhos do enredo estão sempre interligados e da forma como foram tratados. Nem uma única vez fiquei confusa com os enredos nem com as personagens, o que mostra tanto a qualidade com que os enredos foram construídos e também a qualidade de apresentação das personagens com características que ficam presentes de um episódio para o outro, bem como das relações entre elas. Podia tentar prever o que ia acontecer a seguir mas muitas das vezes estava errada e acabava por ser surpreendida. 

Honestamente, não senti que fosse uma série-tipo portuguesa. Senti que a história, as relações entre personagens, que tudo era maior do que representar História e Portugal, apesar da série surgir de um incidente que, de facto, aconteceu. Na Feira do Livro de Lisboa, no lançamento do seu novo livro, João Tordo referiu que desta vez se tinham apercebido que um filme ou uma série partem de guiões, que precisam de ser escritos, para o qual são precisos escritores. E nota-se, nas personagens, nos enredos, que ao ter esta base conjugada com a parte da realização, da imagem (e que imagens!), foi o que fez deste projeto um projeto bem feito. Mesmo que não seja uma história para todos, como é natural, não podem negar que está bem feita. E foi uma história para mim, e mal posso esperar pela segunda temporada!

It was recently released on Netflix another Portuguese series. It is called Turn of the Tide [Rabo de Peixe], written by João Tordo, Hugo Gonçalves and the director Augusto Fraga.

The story is set in Rabo de Peixe, Azores. It follows a group of friends who, faced with the sinking of a boat of Italian cocaine traffickers, pick up a large amount of that cocaine that washed ashore and start selling it and establish a "business". In this manner, we then follow three groups: the police (PJ) and the investigation to find the ones responsible for the drugs and find the drugs, the group of friends who initially see the drugs as the most extraordinary opportunity to change the course of their lives, and the original owners, the Italians. We also follow the reaction of the whole island to the arrival of this product. 

I think it is important to say that the series was inspired by real events.

I really like this series, I think it has an enormous quality to it. I liked how the three plot paths are always connected and the way they were presented. There was not a single time when I got confused with plots or characters, which shows both the quality with which the plots were built and the quality with which the characters were presented with traits that stick with us from one episode to the next, as well as the relationships between them. I could try to predict what was going to happen next but a lot of times I was wrong and ended up being surprised. 

Honestly, I did not feel like this was a typical Portuguese series. I felt like the story, the relationships between characters, that everything was bigger than the representation of History and Portugal, even though the series is based on a real event. At the Lisbon Book Fair, at his new book's launch, João Tordo said that this time someone had realized that a movie or a series starts from screenplays, which need to be written, for which writers are needed. And you can tell, in the characters, in the plots, that having this ground along with the directing part, of the picture (and what images!), was what made this project a well-made project. Even though this is not a story for everyone, as it is natural, no one can deny that it is well-made. And this was a story for me, and I can't wait for the second season!
