Ana com A é uma série que estreou em 2017, com 3 temporadas e escrita por Moira Walley-Becket, baseada no romance Ana de Green Gables de L. M. Montgomery, que já contava com uma série de adaptações para cinema e séries de animação.
Ana é uma rapariga ruiva que ficou órfã aos 3 meses, quando ambos os pais morreram. Deste então tem andado entre orfanatos, onde tinha de suportar pessoas que não a compreendiam e a repreendiam por ser diferente, e casas de acolhimento onde teve de aprender a crescer muito rápido para tratar de várias crianças e até cuidar da casa, sendo tratada como se fosse uma criada.
Mathew fica encantado com Ana e quer ficar com ela, contudo, demora algum tempo a convencer Marilla.
A partir daqui toda a história centra-se à volta de Ana, que
tem finalmente com uma casa com pessoas que a amam, uma família, e amigos. Mas
é também a representação de um novo capítulo para Mathew e Marilla, que não
tendo filhos próprios vêem-se num novo mundo no qual têm de aprender a viver e
para o qual se têm de adaptar.
Esta série explora temas como a amizade, o amor, o querer
integrar-se numa sociedade que repreende o diferente, e podemos ver que ao
longo do tempo Ana consegue mudar o modo de aceitar estas diferenças para muitas
pessoas. Por outro lado, é uma história de uma adolescente do século XIX e da
sua luta para crescer.
Quando acabei de ver a série e fui fazer alguma pesquisa
apercebi-me que várias pessoas desejavam que houvesse mais temporadas, mas
porquê se o fim foi perfeito? Se houvesse mais uma temporada era provável que a
sentíssemos demasiado forçada. Neste final toda a gente está feliz. E quando
isto acontece, quando as pessoas estão felizes, não há drama. A felicidade é
como escrever numa página branca com tinta branca, como Salman Rushdie defende.
Não há drama se não houver conflito, e se uma história acaba com felicidade
para todos é muito difícil encontrar um ponto de retorno para fazer conflito
que não seja artificial.
Para concluir, esta é uma série tanto para pessoas que gostem
de drama e romance como pessoas que gostem de ficção histórica, que conta uma
história de resiliência que nos coloca a pensar no modo como olhamos para a
nossa vida, e se deveríamos olhar para ela de outra forma.

Anne with an E
is a series debuted in 2017, with 3 seasons and written by Moira Walley-Becket,
based on L. M. Montgomery’s romance Anne of Green Gables, which already counted
with a lot of film and animation series’ adaptations.
The story
begins when Marilla and Mathew, two siblings who live together and never got married,
decide to adopt an orphan boy to help with the farm chores in Green Gables,
where they live, near the Canadian town of Avonlea, in the end of the 19th
century. However, when Mathew arrives to the train station to pick him up, there
was a mistake and instead of a boy they sent a girl, Anne, 13 years old. Anne
shows right away that she is a very extroverted, imaginative, and talkative
girl, with a great enthusiasm for everything she sees and for finally being
adopted.
Anne is a redhead
orphan girl since she was 3 months old, when both her parents died. Since then,
she has been between the orphanage, where she had to tolerate people who did
not understand her and punished her for being different, and host houses, where
she had to learn how to grow fast to take care of several children and the
house, being treated as if she was the maid.
Mathew is
charmed by Anne and wants to keep her; however, it takes a little longer for
him to convince Marilla.
From here,
the story is centred around Anne, who finally has a home with people who love
her, a family, and friends. But it is also the representation of a new chapter
for Mathew and Marilla, who, having no children of their own, find themselves
in a new world in which they must learn to live and for which they must adapt.
This series
explores themes as friendship, love, wanting to integrate into a society that
censures the different, and we can see as the time goes by that Anne can
change the way of accepting these differences for a lot of people. On the other
hand, it is a story about a 19th-century teenager and her fight while
growing.
When I
finished the series, I went to do some research and realized that several
people wished that were more seasons, but why if the ending was perfect? If
there was one more season it was probable that we felt it too much forced. In
this ending everyone is happy. And when that happens, when everyone is happy,
there is no drama. Happiness is like writing on a white paper with white ink,
as Salman Rushdie says. There is no drama with no conflict, and if a story ends
with happiness for everyone it is very hard to find a point of return to make
conflict that is not artificial.
To conclude,
this is a series for both people who like drama and romance and people who like
historical fiction, which tells a story of resilience that makes us think about
the way we look at our life, and if we should look at it differently.
